Start Up Funds
Venture Philanthropy. Social Enterprise and Earned Income
generally require two major elements,” a business plan and start-up funding.
The latter is clearly true of any business but start-up funds are not as
immediately obvious, although when you think about any particular plan it is obvious.
This is one of those elements that supporters of nonprofits are not used to
providing and that development workers generally know how to create.
But there is one advantage. If your organization has
business founders or managers they may well be used to hearing the language and
given a good business plan, which they might help to write this will be very
familiar to them. So in addition to helping write the plan they will support
what you are doing and what it will get and will be of wonderful assistance to
knowing where these funds are and how to get them.
This is where you turn one of those critical board members
or supporters into a supportive wonderful person of great help to you and your
organization.
